Getting Started
Initially you have access to the public portions of the web site describing this dataset. If you are a site PI that has contributed to the dataset or an author on an approved paper team, please register on the web site to obtain full access to the additional features of the web site such as data download.
Register
If you are using Internet Explorer, this will bring up a page that looks like:
Choose the option "Continue to this website (not recommended)".
Secure Connection Failed
pod.lbl.gov:31633 uses an invalid security certificate.
The certificate is not trusted because it is self signed.
The certificate is only valid for pod
(Error code: sec_error_ca_cert_invalid)there should be a hyperlink at the bottom of the message that says
"Or you can add an exception…" You will need to click on this link and
then two buttons will appear. One will say get me out of here and the
other will say "Add Exception..." You want to add the Exception.
At this point, a new small popup window will appear giving you dire
warnings about how you are about to override firefox security. You want
to click on the "Get Certificate" button which will fetch the
certificate from pod and then you can choose the "Confirm Security
Exception" button. At this point, it should put you through to the
registration page.
The registration page will open once you accept the certificate. The registration page should look like:
Enter your information including the access code that you will have received in your invitation to join the site.
Once you submit your registration, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. Your account will be created within the next 24 hours. You will receive another e-mail when your account has been created. Now you can log in to the site.
If instead of the registration page you get a message indicating there is a problem displaying the web page
You might need to change your browser security settings to register. If you are using Internet Explorer, you will need to go to "Tools->Internet Options" and then under the "Security" tab, you need to be on "Medium-High" or lower in the "Internet zone" to have the registration page work (registration does not work properly when you place the registration site in the trusted zone). One additional note, the site http://www.fluxdata.org will not display the full content on the "High" security setting unless you add it to your list of "Trusted sites" and set the security for "Trusted sites" to be "Medium-High" or lower. If you are still unable to register, there are a few more things to check. They are listed at http://www.helpwithwindows.com/WindowsXP/troub-10.html.
If you are using Firefox, the registration web page requires scripts to be enabled to work correctly.
Log in
Enter your username and password. Prefix your username with FLUX\. An example username for deba would be FLUX\deba.
